PART THREE - SETTING THE CAPTIVES FREE
CHAPTER 15
CONCLUSION
The subject of victory over Satan and his demons would be very incomplete if I did not conclude with the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. There are countless things that bind people. Demons are only one of those things. Jesus said in Luke, Chapter Four, that He came to set the captives free. But He never sets us free from one thing only to have us immediately come under bondage to something else.
There is only one way to become fully free. That one way is to be the bond servant of Jesus. One who is a bond servant of Jesus Christ is absolutely free from everything else in the world. Nothing, no habit, no person, no idealogy, no demon, not even Satan himself has the power to bind a bond servant of Christ Jesus. In Exodus 21:5-6, Moses wrote:
What this Scripture is telling us is that if a servant so loves his master and wants to stay in his service for life, he may do so. He then enters into an irrevocable covenant with his master. In the days of Moses, the act that sealed his covenant was the piercing of his earlobe. In effect, this act said, “I no longer belong to myself. I no longer have any personal rights. I yield all my desires to my lord. He tells me where to go, when to go, what to do and when to do it.”
To the casual observer that sounds horrifying! How could one human being have that much confidence in another? How could a person lay down his life, as it were, for another? That’s the down side. But the up side is this: The master supplies every need the servant ever has in life! That means his lord provides all his physical, spiritual, mental and emotional needs. That means that anyone who has any ideas of coming against that servant has to deal with the servant’s master! That also means that he will never again be under bondage to anything else!
The Apostle Paul recognized this principle for he wrote,
There is another aspect of the bond servant I want to mention. It is significant that the “seal” of servitude was in the servant’s ear. Anyone who saw the servant from the time of the ear piercing knew from the mark on his ear that he listened only to one master. He did not lend his ear to self-serving voices. He did not lend his ear to rebellion, pride, arrogance, or to any other voice that would cause him to be untrue to his lord.
Now let’s apply these things to becoming a bond servant to Christ Jesus.
What would compel one to become a life-long bond servant to our Lord Jesus? Again Paul answers this question: “For Christ’s love compels us....” (II Cor 5:14 NIV).
So we see, if one wants to get free and stay free - free forever - that freedom is eternally guaranteed if one becomes a bond servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Once this servanthood is established, he is eternally free. No power in earth or in hell will ever again conquer him.
It is my prayer and hope that all who are set free through the knowledge gained from this book will become bond servants to the Lord Jesus Christ - and remain the Lord’s freedman forever.
